STEFG-PolyU China Entrepreneurship Fund
Support Entrepreneurship in the Chinese Mainland
In 2013, PolyU partnered with STEFG to establish the first ever China-Hong Kong cross-border matching fund for PolyU graduates to start new businesses in the Chinese mainland (Shenzhen and Shanghai) with RMB 200,000 funding support for each entrepreneurial project which qualifies.
As of 30 June 2017, the Scheme had supported 40 start-ups, over 80% of which were still actively operating. Some start-ups had also secured additional funding and investment of over HK$100 million, with Xiaomi and Tencent among the investors. Other forms of recognition received by the start-ups include admission to the world-renowned Y-Combinator and the inclusion on the Forbes Asia "30 under 30" list in 2016.
